AUDIOSLAVE Sneak Previews Third Album Songs
November 2, 2005Launch Radio Networks reports: AUDIOSLAVE singer Chris Cornell announced to the audience at New York City's Madison Square Garden on Saturday night (October 29) that the band has already finished writing its third album. The group then proceeded to play a brand new song, which was not titled yet. Cornell told Launch that he enjoys the opportunity to write new material and play it right away for the band's fans. "I'm so excited about the new songs that we've been playing and been able to play in front of thousands of people, and it's the first time in a long time that I've been in a situation where we can actually play new material in front of a lot of people before it's even recorded," he said. "The idea really is to never get too far away from playing a show and never get too far away from writing a song and recording it for a record."
Before playing the new song on Saturday night, Cornell indicated that he had the lyrics taped to the stage because he had only finished them the week before. Cornell also brought his one-year-old daughter onstage to say hello to the crowd early in the set. The band was introduced onstage by guitarist Tom Morello's mother, Mary Morello.
AUDIOSLAVE is currently on its first headlining trip through North American arenas in support of its second album, "Out of Exile". The group performs tonight (Wednesday, November 2) in Portland, Maine. In addition to songs from both AUDIOSLAVE albums, the band is also playing material from its members' previous groups, SOUNDGARDEN, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE and TEMPLE OF THE DOG.
